The PG2 is machined, not molded from a light weight shatter proof plastic, reducing the weight by 38% on the older PG1 alluminium pistol grip.
The PG2 is supplied with 3 sizes of rubber grommets to fit all microphones from 18mm diamter to 24.5mm diameter. The rubber grommets can are easily changed and can be combined to fit microphones with special shapes such as the Beyer MCE86
The PG2 is hand made by Reinhardts Danish craftsmen, This robust pistol grip will last many years under the harsh TV and Film production environment.
The barrel is made from machined POM with a rubber suspension unit which will not collapse when using long shotgun microphones. Neither will the microphone slip out of the barrel when pointing vertically down and and moved rapidly. Embedded in the base of the grip is a 3/8” whitworth thread for boom-pole mounting and the microphone cable sits neatly out of the way in a machined groove under the hand grip. An XLR base plate is planned for release in April so that an XLR microphone cable can be plugged directly into the handle.
The soft foam grip fits comfortably in the hand minimizing fatigue when held for long periods. The grip is made of high quality Kraton rubber with extra soft gel inserts and has a slip-free surface for a secure grip and ergonomic shape for a very comfortable hand position.
